Saying Yes

To settle into ashram life once more, I am given some time to ease the transition. So I scavenge the Boutique (amongst my treasures: yoga pants, a yoga mat, and a pretty water bottle) and pimp my room. In the craftsroom I even discover a loom on which I start the basics for a scarf or a bag. Anything rectangular and easy.

But soon it is back to business. I am in charge of registrations, entering data in the computer, printing off lists, sending welcoming e-mails to old and new guests. The afternoons I work where I am most needed: Hammering out nails, drying apples, and getting reacquainted with hospital corners.

It is nice to be needed and it is hard to say no. So I am chicken mother once more (you can find me carrying eggs in my pockets from garden to kitchen every day around dusk), a trained camera person and a young adult workshop teacher. When I am not preparing breakfast, I might teach hidden language yoga to the other karma yogis, like I did this morning. So far, so good.

But I hadn't expected Swami Matananda coming up to me: "You know you are teaching hidden language don't you? - Well yes, I am on the schedule for the karma yogi's. - No I mean for the YDC...." Teaching in the Yoga Development Course, the in-depth three month course that I took last year? Teaching my teachers Swami Sivananda and Lynn who are taking it this year?!

Oh wow.
Euhm yes?
Yes!!

  1. Wow, teaching Hidden Language to the teachers... I'm amazed by your responsibilities. It is because they know you are capable. I loved your yoga classes.
