Teaching Extravaganza

Just as I start to doubt whether I will truly be teaching in the YDC, I spot my name on our online calendar. Swami Matananda & Judith: Swan. Wait a minute? Swan? Isn't that that pose that is too hard to be true? Indeed, it is. Not quite the 'easing into the YDC' I had hoped for.

Swami Lalitanada and someone actually doing the Swan
In the backoffice, Swami Matananda and I try the swan. And lo and behold, I can do it with my feet against the wall. That has never worked before! I feel more confident now, and teaching goes well, with people happily falling on their faces.  I also try some more without the wall, and with my legs bent, I can actually get up. But how to stretch my legs?

In my own Hidden Language class for the Karma Yogi's, we work with seated forward bend. I give them a lot of freedom to explore. Looking around as everyone is doing something else, I wonder whether I am not overdoing it... Still people tell me afterwards how much they enjoyed class. No need to control everything.

This week I also start teaching in the Young Adult Program, who have a class every Thursday. Right now there are three girls, and Guenevere and I have them work with the symbolim of the Kundalini Chart. As I am on a roll, I also teach a full day of Dreams in the YDC once more. This time together with Alanda, who also teaches dream classes in the community once a week. It is special to join the group for a day, and witness their discoveries and challenges.

As I am used to teaching by myself, it feels awkward to teach with others. Somehow I fall into my not unfamiliar role of clown. It is not that  I don't take the teachings serious, but I do like a bit of lightness.

After all classes I teach, I am hard on myself and can point out all the things I should have done differently. This is good practice for my tapas. I am not just teaching, I am always learning.
