Dipping In

A new phase has started: Karma Yoga, selfless service. Simply put, Karma Yoga means working for the greater good, not for your own benefit. Karma Yogis work 6 days a week, 8 hours a day. Following my illegal peek in the computer system, I think I will mainly be working in two of my favorite areas: the kitchen and the office. Karma Yoga is about doing your personal best and seeing what arises as a learning opportunity. Still, the kitchen is an area with clear deadlines: Lunch & Dinnertime. So I hope my slow vegetable chopping skills will soon improve, as well as my ability to multitask.

In the afternoon, we all reflect on the day and what we have learned, and share this in small groups, while eating ashram apples. Afterwards, we work some more. Then next to regular Karma Yoga, I will be preparing breakfast, leading satsang and teaching Hatha Yoga once every ten days, next to my twice weekly dishwashing shifts. And once a week we have a post-Yoga Development Course 2012 class, continuing on with themes we worked at in the YDC. Our day off in the week is called a reflection day, in which we can reflect on what happened the last week.

I need to make a calendar so I won't lose track of all my tasks. Fortunately I have my reflection day today. But I also want to finish my book, prepare my Hatha class, have a bath. And I guess I should schedule some sleep too. Yet who needs sleep, when there is a lake to sing to?
